Hi, I’m Barbora Sopoligova—a filmmaker with a passion for crafting compelling narratives and exploring unique perspectives. With a master's degree in Film and Television from the University of Portsmouth and a background in Film and Video Production and Psychology from Purdue University, my creative journey spans Slovakia, the UK, and the USA.

My work reflects a deep commitment to telling stories of resilience and empowerment, with a particular focus on portraying strong female protagonists and highlighting untold voices. My recent short film Darina, inspired by the life of the first female Lutheran pastor in Slovakia, exemplifies my dedication to weaving historical and cultural narratives into contemporary cinema.

As a filmmaker, I bring a versatile skill set that encompasses directing, scriptwriting, editing, cinematography, and production management. I have hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, such as Da Vinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite, and advanced camera systems like the Arri Alexa Mini LF. My filmmaking style emphasizes collaboration, meticulous research, and innovative storytelling, blending live-action techniques with experimental approaches, such as AI-generated visuals. Whether working on short films, music videos, or experimental projects, I thrive in dynamic environments and aim to create thought-provoking content that resonates with diverse audiences.

My passion for cinema moves beyond the screen, as seen in my volunteer work at No6 Cinema and the London Film Festival, where I contribute to fostering a vibrant community of film lovers. I'm also interested in script reading as demonstrated in my work experience at Celsius Entertainment.
